- IMPORTANT INSTALLATION DETAILS: Tiles are UNFINISHED. If you plan to use in a humid environment or as a backsplash please finish with a clear coat via a polyurethane clear coat, painted with an oil-based primer and then a paint color, or painted with a Direct to Metal paint that eliminates the need for a primer. Ceiling installation requires a wood substrate such as plywood, furring strips, or joists. Backsplash installation requires adhesive.
